Game Overview
"Unlike any strategy game you've ever played." A bold statement, and easy prey for jaded reviewers eager to spoon out the eyeballs of anyone brandishing another real-time strategy game.
Enemy Nations is a build 'em up with combat tacked on for good measure. The idea is to collect gas, coal and timber and erect all the usual buildings, do a bit of friendly roaming and smack up anything that gets in your way. The build 'em up side of things is quite compelling, but the graphics for the various units let the game down. Detailed they may be, but tanks blend into trees (and each other) all too easily. They're messy and badly animated, and as a result the combat suffers badly.
You can choose from 12 different races and play over randomly generated terrain, so the game could take a while. You're better off opting for the multiplayer mode than the single, and the control interface and Al work well. It's not bad, but don't believe what it says on the box. Enemy Nations is about as original as Bobby Davro is funny.
