Jojo's Bizarre Adventure is an exciting, old-school point-and-click role-playing adventure based on the Japanese comic books Stardust Crusaders, where the player will take on the role of Jotaro Kujo and engage in turn-based battles.
Characters conserve physical (HP) and moral health. The player moves left or right on the screen. When the battle ends, the option to go upstairs to move to another location opens up. The fight itself is turn-based action. One second before the bloodshed, the computer gives one random card, which increases the character's combat characteristics. Next, the player chooses one action from his own arsenal:
- Attack, either with a cold weapon or with your bare hands
- Communicate to steal information from your opponent or put pressure on his psyche
- Treat your friends
- Skip a turn if resources are scarce
- Predict. This feature reveals your opponent's weakness so that it is easier to destroy him
Gameplay takes place in third person. You can walk around the map and approach items to explore them. Available functions: "use" to take an item and "research" to get information. Sages and key NPCs can be talked to. Talking NPCs will give hints and correct directions (it's not always clear where to go next).
Play as popular characters around the world:
- Jean Pierre Polnareff
- Jotaro Kujo
- Joseph Joestar
- Noriaki Kakyoin
- Muhammad Avdol
The music and sound effects of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure are something special. The developers recorded the soundtracks a few months before the game's release, in 1993. Modern RPG fans may say that the music is outdated, so especially for such people there is a disable function in the settings.
Jojo's Bizarre Adventure laid a good foundation for other games in the series, such as the fighting game JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Heritage For The Future or the arcade game JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Last Survivor. Great stylization, a familiar story, and solid gameplay make JoJo's Bizarre Adventure a good game.
