Omori is a colorful indie-RPG and emotional horror game where a hickimori guy named Sonny will wander in his dreams, exploring his own phobias and depths of mind. The main feature of the game is the choices that accompany the player throughout the game. The decisions made by the player determine the path of the hero and the final scene of the game. The Omocat development team was inspired by comic books and created Omori. I think Omori is just right for people who have never played a horror game, because there are few scrimmages and there is an atmosphere of anxiety and mystery.
The player will explore a strange world full of loyal friends and mysterious enemies. Travel through colorful and faded worlds to uncover a forgotten past and unravel your character. Ultimately, the path the player chooses will determine his fate. Omori is an RPG with a view from above. Sonny and his three companions (Aubrey, Kel and Hiro) go on an adventure to find a missing friend named Basil.
The player explores forests and towns and interacts with unique inhabitants. Combat is a turn-based team format, and each character's actions are chosen on a turn-by-turn basis. The player chooses one of the teams:
- Normal attack.
- Special Skills
The game allows you to rewatch the storyline, so you have to go at least two rounds to understand the scenario. About 70% of the story is heartwarming adventures with friends, and the rest is the painful conflicts and traumas the protagonist experiences. The adventure part and the horror part are intertwined. The hidden past is gradually revealed.
The visuals of the game are great. All of the characters are hand-drawn and move smoothly. Sometimes the artists show a soft and pleasant atmosphere, sometimes oppressive and dark. Professionals of their craft, there's no other way to put it.
Omori is a game with hand-drawn illustrations, a mysterious view of the world and a story that resonates in the heart. Themes of death, anxiety, and depression are covered. Recommended for fans of Undertale and Yume Nikki.
