AFTER BURNER Pure Arcade Adrenaline

If you've ever been in a video arcade, chances are you've wrapped your hands around the control stick of Super Afterburner. Now you can play the complete arcade version on your Genesis 32X with Afterburner on 32X. This one has it all: lightning-fast aerial combat, the power to jink and roll, a machine cannon, and Vulcan missiles. Pick up the control pad on this title, and you experience a large chunk of Sega gaming history, not to mention aerial combat that continues to set standards by which all jet shoot-'em-ups are measured.

If Afterburner has any shortcoming, it's that the original title was in the arcades so long before coming to the Genesis 32X. But then again, it's still out there snatching quarters, which just goes to show you that good game play is timeless.

History Of Afterburner:

1. 1987 Afterburner sets video arcades around the world on fire.
2. 1988 Afterburner in 8-bit form becomes the flight standard of home video games with its introduction to the Sega Master System.
3. 1989 Super Afterburner arcade sit-in machines take gaming to the next level.
4. 1991 Afterburner II becomes a 16-bit smash hit on the Sega Genesis. 1993 Afterburner III does it again on Sega CD.
5. 1995 Afterburner enters 32-bit fame on the Genesis 32X.

After Burner is an arcade fighter jet flight simulator. Destroy enemies in your fighter jet and score points. Compete with your friends as you try to score maximum points in this retro 1987 game.

Eighteen levels to win

The gameplay is fairly simple, typical of all arcade games. The player controls an F-14 Tomcat fighter jet. The game has only eighteen levels. During these levels, you have to destroy all the enemies encountered.

You can attack with two types of attack:

• Machine gun
• Missiles

There are a limited number of missiles, which are replenished by another plane after passing several checkpoints.

Legends Don't Die

The arcade game was so beloved by players that in 2006 a more realistic 3D flight simulator was released - After Burner: Climax. At the same time in the new game, there are a lot of references to the retro game. Still the same F-14 Tomcat, but in advanced graphics and with motion physics.

Tom Cruise and aircraft carriers.

The fighter starts his missions with the aircraft carrier Sega Enterprise. A similar name to the ship was in the famous movie of the time, "Top Gun" starring Tom Cruise. Since the developers were most likely inspired by this movie, the arcade machines tried to replicate the feeling of flying. In the game itself, for the first time, the camera was not static but rotated along with the fighter. But experienced pilots don't get carsick.
