Killing Floor: Incursion
I have tried many different VR first person shooters, but Killing Floor Incursion may very well be the best! This is a game that pretty much everyone who has actually tried has been blown away with. If you liked the other Killing Floor games then you will go VR crazy for what Killing Floor Incursion has to offer.
A Tale of Four Stories
Killing Floor Incursion is split into four distinct sections and each one has its own feel and is very different from the others. My personal favorite is the one that is set in a camp in the woods. This feels like something out of a horror movie and I could have easily spent the whole game in this location. The next one is a series of dark and creepy catacombs that are inside a canyon.
Then we have a level that is set in Paris in the near future. This level is very creative as you are both above and below the city and it features the best use of a sniper rifle, I have ever experienced! Then we have the industrial plant where some of the game’s secrets come to life. If I am honest the industrial plant is probably my least favorite of the stages, but that does not actually mean I do not like it.
Kill Them All
Before I get into the actual mechanics let me tell you that Killing Floor Incursion is the same Killing Floor that you know and love. You have waves and waves of enemies that you need to take down and you will be taking them down in buckets and buckets of blood. Each stage will also have various puzzles that you need to figure out. These make great use of VR and they never feel out of place or so hard that they are frustrating. The enemy types are my main criticism of the game. The game throws a ton of them your way, but there is not a ton of variety to them.
Holding A Gun Never Felt So Good!
The gunplay in Killing Floor Incursion is absolutely awesome! I am struggling to think of another VR game that makes using firearms as much fun as this. From having to manually reload a sniper rifle and carefully aim it. To reloading a badass double barrel shotgun. All of the guns in Killing Floor Incursion feel great.
Actually, the whole world does. Interacting with doors, smashing open a glass case to get a fire ax and all of the puzzles really do immerse you in the game amazingly well. I was blown away at how good the game felt to play. Of course, as this is Killing Floor, you may on occasion find yourself a little overwhelmed. Do not worry though as you can pretty much pick up anything and use it as a weapon, even the severed limbs of the monsters you are taking down!
I really cannot overstate how great Killing Floor Incursion is. I have no idea why this is not pushed super hard as one of the definitive VR experiences. It is not only scary and action packed. Killing Floor Incursion also actually makes you feel like you are in the game. Any other VR first person shooters need to take note because this is how you handle gunplay in a VR first person shooter!
