Zombie Shooter is part of the Shooter series from the studio called, Sigma Team Inc. They turned their hand to the zombie apocalypse back in 2007 with this game and it is a game that offers some bloody, mindless and gory fun.
Cool, Like Old School Cool!
The first thing that you notice about Zombie Shooter is the old school style graphics. It has an isometric top down view and it fits the game perfectly. I feel that it has more of a PlayStation look than it does a Super Nintendo one. There is a ton of gore in this game, in one of the game modes it is not unusual for there to be literally hundreds of zombie body parts all over the floor!
Simple, But Fun
I would say that simple, but fun is the best way that you can describe Zombie Shooter. The main campaign sees you in a research facility that is where the zombie outbreak has started. You need to stop it from getting out and also figure out what the heck happened. The story is really not that great, but that does not matter as it serves as motivation for you to mow down tons of zombies and creatures. The game plays similar to something like Smash TV. You are walking around, killing anything that comes in range. Picking up powerups, new weapons, ammo, health items and so on. You will go from area to area, killing things, picking up more stuff, maybe pressing a switch, blowing up a wall and then you fight a boss.
The game is not super hard and I found that when I died it was usually at the hands of a boss. The game is very generous with its ammo and health powerups. I did find on occasion I would get a little cocky, stop paying attention and be surrounded by zombies. I really do think that Zombie Shooter is a fun game to play and it is great if you want something to plow through in 10 minutes to blow off a little steam after a hard day at work or school.
Pick A Mode
As well as the campaign there are two survival modes that you can have fun with as well. Survive sees you dropped outside somewhere and you need to just survive as long as you can. This mode is really fun and after about ten minutes the ground is red with blood! The zombies are relentless, but the game will give you some cool overpowered weapons like a minigun to help you out.
The other mode is called Gun Stand and this is another survival mode. The difference here is that you cannot walk around the level. Instead, you control a gun turret and need to kill anything that comes close. You do have a barrier, but eventually, the zombies will break through. It is all about lasting as long as you can!
There is a fun upgrade system in the game that is not too in depth, but it fits the game perfectly. You can make your skills better, get better weapons, armor and so on. The weapon upgrades, in particular, are a lot of fun and can do some major damage when you get some of the more powerful ones.
I think that Zombie Shooter is a fun time. The game is not super deep, but that is not a bad thing. If you are after a game that offers good mindless fun, you cannot go wrong with Zombie Shooter. It is one of those games that kind of puts you into a Zen-like state when you play it.
- Shooting zombies and creatures is a lot of fun
- There are three game modes
- It does get quite challenging
- Buckets of blood
- Lots of zombies on screen at the same time
- Not the most original story
- Gun Stand is not as fun as the other two modes, but it is still good
