Dead Rising 3
Dead Rising 3 before it made its way to PC was actually the crown jewel in the Xbox One launch lineup. The first two games in the series were very popular so people were very excited to see what Capcom would do with Dead Rising 3.
Hi, I Am Nick
The story is Dead Rising 3 did not grab me the same way that the story in Dead Rising 2 did. Still, I thought that trying to take a more serious tone to the story did work. You play as Nick, who is a mechanic and who is thrust in the middle of a zombie outbreak that has happened many years after the last game.
The area that Nick and the other survivors are hauled up in is going to be bombed and it is up to Nick to lead them out and find out what the heck is going on. I actually quite like Nick as the main character, but the overall story while not bad is rather generic. Still, the game does have multiple endings for you to discover which happen as a result of the things that you do in the game.
Dead Rising with Modern Comforts
As much as I liked the other Dead Rising games there were a few things that were annoying about them and thankfully Dead Rising 3 address these. The most notable one for me is the save system. Gone is the having to find a toilet to save yourself system. You can now save the game when you want and for me, that is a great improvement. Also, Capcom has left the option in there for you to have save points if you like that added challenge, but I found that more of a chore. Still, it is nice that they put it in there for players who wanted it.
How Many Zombies????
One thing that Capcom was able to do with Dead Rising 3 was to kick things up about several notches. The zombie count is way higher and they are able to put a ton more zombies on the screen at the same time. If you thought it looked insane in Dead Rising 2, Dead Rising 3 will make you spit your Pepsi out all over your screen when you see all of the undead standing before you. Another thing that Capcom improved was the size of the game. Dead Rising 3 is more of an open world game than the other two were and there is pretty much zero loading that has to happen as you play. I liked the open world format and it did make things grander in their scale.
Things Stay the Same
If you have played the other Dead Rising games, Dead Rising 3 will feel very familiar for you. It features that same over the top zombie killing action that the other games did. You are free to screw around if you like, do side missions and of course complete the story.
Capcom has brought back the ability to combine weapons to make more crazy stuff, but they have also allowed you to combine certain vehicles together too which is a lot of fun. You can now do this when you like and you do not have to worry about finding a workstation to do it. This is something I am very happy that they put in.
Dead Rising 3 also has a multiplayer aspect to it. You can play through it with a buddy and there are plenty of game modes that you can do. While I only dabbled a little bit with the multiplayer, it worked very well and was a nice addition to the game.
I think that Dead Rising 3 is a great entry to the series. While I do not think the story is as good as it was in Dead Rising 2. I really do like the open world aspect and the overall gameplay improvements that Capcom made to the game. I highly recommend that you check this one out as it really is a lot of fun to play through.
